Benefits of Individual Membership
LIASA's continued growth and success depends on the sustained contribution of its existing membership and the potential support of each South African librarian and information worker. For a monthly contribution equivalent to less than the price of a movie ticket you will receive the following benefits for a whole year:
-
As a LIASA member you are a member of a Branch situated in the province where you live and/or work. This entitles you to attend the regular Branch meetings held in the province.
-
You will receive a quarterly magazine called LIASA-In-Touch, the official magazine of the Association.
-
Your membership entitles you to regular copies of the South African Journal of Libraries and Information Science, LIASA's accredited scientific research journal.
-
As an individual member, you may apply for travel grants and fellowships that are made available through national and international sponsors and partners of the Association.
-
You may attend the Annual LIASA Conference at a discounted rate.
-
You are entitled to attend the AGM and, as a paid up member, you have voting rights to help provide direction for South Africa's organised library profession.
-
Membership to, and active participation in LIASA offers you a network of contacts and support among your colleagues who are working in a wide range of library and information services and teaching departments - they have expertise and specialist skills to share with you.
-
Institutional members are entitled to discount advertising in the LIASA-In-Touch. LIASA also provides online communication through its listserv LIASAOnline and its website at www.liasa.org.za.
Benefits of Institutional Membership
Why your organisation should become an institutional member:
-
Only Institutions may apply for Institutional membership of LIASA.
-
A paid-up Institutional member may register up to five (5) of its employees for the Annual Conference at the rate applicable to an individual member.
-
The staff members of a member institution do not automatically become members of LIASA.
-
Institutional members are entitled to discount advertising in the LIASA-In-Touch. LIASA also provides online communication through its listserv LIASAOnline and its website at www.liasa.org.za.
-
The member institution is entitled to send one representative to the AGM and that individual may vote on behalf of the institutional member.
-
Institutional members are entitled to receive the publications Journal of South African Libraries and Information Science and LIASA-in-Touch.
With your professional and financial support, the LIASA Management, Standing Committees, Branch Executives and Interest Groups shall continue to:
